NEWS
Hello, Sprouts.

Happy New Year! We're back from our break and excited to start 2024. But first, let's look at some of the systems completed during our break.

Updated Magic Familairs - (Live)

We've introduced some updates to Magic Familiars. Duo functionality has been added, expanding beyond Monnie, Frootie, and Lucky. Additionally, Magic Familiars no longer require approval ticks on the Trial and Classes approval pages. Activated familiars will automatically be banked if the activity accepts them.

Keep in mind that, moving forward, bangles need to be "activated" in the Eather Forge to function in this manner. Completion of the Eather Beast Class is necessary to access the Eather Forge. While this is a temporary solution, we understand it may not be the most player-friendly. Rest assured, we have plans to address this later in the year by making the Eather Forge accessible through means other than the Eather Beast Class.

Automated Subtype Fruit and Theme Biscuits - (Live)

Subtype Fruit: Changing subtypes is now a breeze on the masterlist. Simply click "edit" and choose the "change subtype" option. Make sure to have the required subtype fruits in your character's inventory for the change to take effect; the system will automatically consume the correct amount of fruit required by the tier.

Theme Biscuits: Modifying themes is also streamlined on the masterlist. Click "edit" and select "change theme." Once submitted, the theme change will be sent to a mod for approval. All theme changes, including Companions, will be logged in the history.

Note: If your Griffians have "N/A" or "TBA" as the theme, head to Help Desk>General Support to unlock a theme for free.

Token Completion Placeholder Artwork - (Live)

For users who own Griffolk with previously completed tokens, we've got you covered! There's no need to search for the original artwork; we've created a placeholder artwork for you to save and submit. This is available on the Token Hub page. Simply, upload this artwork for any tokens your character has already completed!

Dye Approval Policy Clarification - (Live)

With approvals now conveniently hosted in our admin area, we have streamlined the process, making it easier for us to review dye approvals by eye. In light of this, we have refined the stringency of our dye policy and the degree of resemblance required for Griffians to match their approved images. These adjustments have been consolidated into two new rules, Rule 5.6 a & b. Acquaint yourself with these rules before submitting activities, as this change impacts all activity approval areas that require art.

Love Raffle Update: Incremental Winners - (Live)

Starting the second week of January, the Love Raffle will now award 5% of entries with prizes. Previously, we awarded a single prize regardless of the number of participants. We're thrilled to introduce this long-requested feature, and we hope you enjoy the enhanced experience!

New Tutorial Hub - (Live)

We've created a Tutorial Hub to serve as an index for all guides and tutorials. As we progress through 2024, our goal is to provide numerous tutorials and guides to assist users in navigating and utilizing our website effectively. This hub is designed to enhance your experience and make interactions with the site much smoother.

2024 and our Goals - (Future)

World Development is going to be our main focus  this year

We're thrilled to announce that our primary focus in 2024 is World Development, where we'll be dedicated to advancing our world and completing planned lore. Transparency is key, so we've outlined our Current Dev Projects to give you a glimpse into our efforts. Please note that this list is dynamic, and we'll keep you updated with any additions through future news updates.

To accomplish this, we have outlined our plan, segmenting 2024 into three parts. While the main objective is to clean, reorganize, and publish missing lore. We also want to simultaneously elevate the lore tab to the same level as all other fully published pages.

Our plan for 2024 is divided into three parts:

Spring 2024: Focused on Fluffia, addressing its locations, species, and filling in missing information.

Summer 2024: Concentrating on Capria, its locations, species, and any gaps in information.

Fall-Winter 2024: Details to come! We'll update you on our progress as we move forward.

2024 - Game Development - (Future)

We're near completion in finalizing approvals for all processes, paving the way to enhance our systems and games. The backlog and limited automation have hindered our ability to expand the gamification of Griffia, but that's changing. While our creators delve into lore, our programmer will focus on the following priorities.

- Achievement System
- Additional Weekly Game Features - Tasks
- Relationships System
- Play as Griffian option
- Raffle System tied to activities and items
- Ping System (Replacing Twitter, it will function similarly to Discord.)
- Void Swap Item System

Economy Changes (Future)

As Kingdoms of Griffia expands, we have gained more tools to deliver prizes and loot. To enhance the overall experience, we plan to revisit containers and game prizes, making adjustments to all droplists. Due to numerous changes and substitutions in items over the years, we need to realign the prizes to better match the source providing the item. This adjustment aims to create a better game feel, reducing the feeling of randomness that has lingered since 2019.

Trophy Changes (Future)

Starting in 2024, we will discontinue the practice of awarding trophies in games. Instead, we will incorporate them into future events in ways that better align with our automation. Here is a breakdown of our future plan for trophy distribution:

Prompt Trophy: Awarded through RNG for entries in all art-related prompts during events.

NPC Trophy: Given out in NPC games during events.

Mods' Choice Trophy: Generally awarded to our favorites from the games during events.

Additionally, the "Art of the Week" feature will be discontinued as we cannot view the weekly image submissions through on-site approvals once they are approved. Instead, mods will select their favorite artworks during events with a dedicated place for submission.

Now let's look at a summary of what we did for 2023

In late 2023, we successfully cleared our 2019 backlog, paving the way for an exciting 2024. To streamline progress, all projects classified as technically new content were removed from the backlog, ensuring its swift completion. These tasks have been reintroduced as a part of our 2024 Current Dev Projects. As we enter the new year, we're thrilled to have reached this milestone, armed with a to-do list focused on creating fresh content for Griffia. Last year was largely dedicated to cleaning, and we're eager to move beyond this development stage. Here's a summary of our achievements:

- Automation of all character, activity, and design approvals.
- On-site hosting and automation of all continuous activities.
- Automation of all item usage processes.
- Implementation of the new dye approval system, offering opt-out for designs logged with the previous method.
- CYO were made accessible outside of events, and all CYOs received a starter bundle.
- Reorganization of assets onto the site and completion of internal archive work.
- Updates, clarifications, and streamlining of numerous pages, rules, and policies.
- New domain name.
- Closure of Patreon and Twitter accounts.
- Completion of all Yotun pages.
- Refreshed assets and art for many pages and items.
